National Mathematics Year and National Mathematics Day

In India, the day December 22 has been declared as the National Mathematics Day. The declaration was made by Prime Minister of India, during the inaugural ceremony of the celebrations to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Srinivasa Ramanujan held at the Madras University Centenary Auditorium on 26 February 2012. Dr Manmohan Singh also announced that the year 2012 CE would be celebrated as the National Mathematics Year.

The Indian mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan was born on 22 December 1887 and died on 26 April 1920. It was in recognition of his contribution to mathematics the Government of India decided to celebrate Ramanujan's birthday as the National Mathematics Day every year and to celebrate 2012 as the National Mathematical Year.

ಹ್ಯಾಪಿ  ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ 

 ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳೊಂದಿಗೆ ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಯಿತು. ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ ಕೇಕ್ ಮುರಿದು, ಶುಭಾಶಯ ಪತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಪರಸ್ಪರ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಭೇದ ಭಾವ ಮರೆತು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ ಹಬ್ಬವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸಿದರು. ಜಗತ್ತನ್ನು ಉಳಿಸಲು ತನ್ನ ಪುತ್ರನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ದೇವನಿಗೆ ಕೃತಜ್ಞತೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.  ಬೆಳಗ್ಗಿನ ಪರೀಕ್ಷೆ ಕಳೆದು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ ಟ್ರೀ, ಗೋದಲಿಯನ್ನು ರಚಿಸಿ ಖುಷಿಪಟ್ಟರು. ಲೋಕಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆಳಕು ನೀಡಲು ಬಂದ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ಜಗದಗಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂತೋಷವನ್ನು ತಂದುಕೊಟ್ಟ. ತಾನು ಹುಟ್ಟಿದ್ದು ಕತ್ತಲೆಯ ದನದ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಾದರೂ ಆತ ನೀಡಿದ ಬೆಳಕು ಜಗಕ್ಕೆ ದೀವಿಗೆಯಾಗಿದೆ. ಧರ್ಮ, ದೇವರು ವಿಚಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವ ಪಂಗಡದಲ್ಲೂ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಕೇವಲ ಆಚರಣೆಯ ಕ್ರಮದಲ್ಲಿ, ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನಾ ಭಾಷೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತ್ರ ವ್ಯತ್ಯಾಸ ಕಾಣಿಸಬಹುದಷ್ಟೇ ಎಂದು ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ ಮಸ್ ಸಂದೇಶವನ್ನು ಸಾರಿದರು.

ಇಡೀ ಜಗತ್ತಿನ ಆತ್ಮಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನೇ ನಡುಗಿಸಿದ ಘೋರ ದುರಂತ ಡಿ 16 ರಂದು ಪಾಕಿಸ್ತಾನದ ಪೇಶಾವರದ ಶಾಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದ ದಾಳಿ. ಇದು ಇಡೀ ಮಾನವಕುಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ನಡೆದ ದಾಳಿ. ಹತ್ಯೆಗೀಡಾದ 141 ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ 151 ಮಂದಿಯ ಆತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ ಚಿರಶಾಂತಿಯನ್ನು ಕೋರುತ್ತಾ ಶಾಲಾ ಎಸೆಂಬ್ಲಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಹಾಗೂ ಶಿಕ್ಷಕರು 2 ನಿಮಿಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಮೌನ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಗೈದರು.

 Human Rights Day

Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Human rights are our basic rights or freedoms. They include our right to live, our right to health, education, freedom of speech and thoughts, and equal rights. Some groups organize protests on Human Rights Day to alert people of circumstances in parts of the world where human rights are not recognized or respected, or where these rights are not considered to be important.

When the General Assembly adopted the Declaration, with 48 states in favor and eight abstentions, it was proclaimed as a "common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations", towards which individuals and societies should "strive by progressive measures, national and international, to secure their universal and effective recognition and observance". Although the Declaration with its broad range of political, civil, social, cultural and economic rights is not a binding document, it inspired more than 60 human rights instruments which together constitute an international standard of human rights. Today the general consent of all United Nations Member States on the basic Human Rights laid down in the Declaration makes it even stronger and emphasizes the relevance of Human Rights in our daily lives.
